
Kudzu Satchels

Details
Weave a durable and beautiful satchel with kudzu vines! Once split and scraped, kudzu provides beautiful weaving material with a silken sheen that is tough enough to withstand the demands of daily use! In this class, we will be working with multi-strand weaves such as the blackberry weave, braid weave, waling, and twining. Students can choose whether to weave a squared or rounded shape to make their satchel unique. Learn new techniques for processing material and weaving, and leave with a gorgeous basket to use every day!

Ribbed Baskets



Details
Choose from three options: the Appalachian egg basket, hen basket, or platter! Quick weavers will be able to weave two baskets over the weekend. Ribbed baskets are so much fun to weave, allowing you to relax into a meditative rhythm once the original structure is established. These baskets combine a wide variety of material, from vines and withies, to bark, leaves, and cordage! Take home the skills to continue experimenting with the wild materials growing around your home!

Kudzu Pack Basket

Details
Learn to turn the south's most infamous weed into a supremely useful pack basket! In this class we will cover methods for harvest and preparation of kudzu vines, as well as a variety of weave patterns and techniques to make your basket unique. You will also learn to attach naturally-tanned leather straps with copper rivets. We are going to enjoy a wonderful weekend laughing and weaving at this historic riverside location. At the end, you'll wear home a comfortable, beautiful backpack, that's sure to turn some heads!

Bark School



Details
In this unique 3-day class, we will start with a log, peel off the bark, and process it into fine weaving material. The next two days will be spent weaving the bark into intricate twill designs. Choose from three projects: weaving a bark hat, satchel, and wallet. Fast weavers may make more than one project. Learn skills for processing material and continuing your foraged basketry journey at home!
