Greenwood is a large tract of forest situated just outside of Athens, GA. Our beautiful woodland oasis is home to several pure springs, a large creek, mixed hardwood forest, field, and wetland. Despite being so close to town, we have a diversity of plant and animal life including rare medicinal plants growing in abundance, resident coyotes, beaver, deer, hawks, owls, turtles, fish, crayfish, and songbirds among many more.
On the land we have a tarped pavilion tent for shelter from the rain as well as a Scandinavian version of a tipi, called a lavvu. However, the forest itself is our schoolhouse - the foxholes, creekbanks, log bridges, rocky outcrops hold and inspire us on our learning journey!
We also run adult classes in Murphy, North Carolina and have new programs coming there soon!
